In this unspoilt place, the congregation of Olivetan monks was founded in 1319. From then on, these monks would be distinguished by their white robes, a sign of purity. Soon the abbey became a destination for hermits and wayfarers. Even today, the house of the Olivetans retains its original configuration: it is accessed via a narrow strip of land set between steep crags and ditches.

The exterior of the monastery is dominated by a large tower. Inside the church, in Baroque style, the wooden lectern by Raffaele da Brescia and the wooden choir inlaid by Fra’ Giovanni da Verona, which occupies the entire nave, are of particular note.
