Biography
Giada Staccioli was born and raised in Siena. She lived amidst the medieval alleys, the Palio di Siena and spent her childhood in her contrada, the Tower. Her family has ancient artisan origins and she has always been around brushes and colours, but as she grew up she fell in love with cameras.
For Giada Staccioli, photography has always been a passion since she was a child, and for the rest of her life she has dedicated herself to turning this passion into a career. She attended the Siena art institute Duccio di Buoninsegna, where she broadened her artistic knowledge. After school, she specialised with her father, a professional photographer, and attended internships with photographers from Siena. In addition to photography, she is also a painter and together with her family they have a ‘Bianco e Nero’ workshop near the Duomo, where they produce their typically hand-decorated Sienese ceramics. With photography she wants to express emotions and feelings. She does not like posed photos but prefers her subjects to be natural and spontaneous, so that looking back on the shots over time they can always find themselves.
