Research carried out by the Centro Studi Turistici di Firenze on behalf of Toscana Promozione shows that 38.4 million euro is the turnover generated by weddings, 24% of the regional market.
The wedding industry is growing strongly in its tourism business. Recent data consolidate the position of Tuscany, which, with a share of 30.9%, confirms itself as the leading region in the national market. Among the interesting territories with potential for further growth in Tuscany are clearly the Terre di Siena.
In fact, the Centre for Tourism Studies in the Lands of Siena notes that the average number of guests for each wedding event is 43.3, with an average budget of 51,450 euro. The destinations in the province of Siena are among the most popular: Castelnuovo Berardenga, Pienza, Chiusdino, Monteriggioni, Siena, San Gimignano. Together they make up 50.7% of the market in the Sienese territory.
Throughout Tuscany there are more than 5 thousand operators in the wedding industry. The emerging venues are exclusive villages and historical residences, while the ‘top 5’ venues are villas, 38.2%, farmhouses, 20.8%, castles, 16.4%, luxury hotels, 15.3%, and municipalities, 3.9%. The role of technology is also central in this sector: in 36% of cases, invitations are sent electronically, in 54% of cases a hashtag is created for the wedding day, in 62% a dedicated website is created, and in 52% an app is used for wedding planning. And then there are the new trends, such as ‘Social Wedding’ and ‘Wedding Week’.
